On January 8, 2018 I'll be part of a panel at the Digital Hollywood conference at the Consumer Electronics Show, a session led by veteran game developer and executive Ariella Lehrer, President of HitPoint Studios. The session will be held from 10:15 AM - 11:15 AM at the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, in Events Room N258.
The (ambitious) title of our session is "Gaming, the Killer AR/VR App." Our panel includes:
Peter Akemann, President, Skydance Media
Johnny Monsarrat, CEO, Monsarrat, Inc.
Greg Potter, Analyst, S&P Global Market Intelligence
Christina Lee, AR/VR Content, Google
Moderator - Ariella Lehrer, Ph.D., President, HitPoint Studios
A couple of spoilers I'll share now:
If VR gets its killer apps, I think they are likely to be something other than games. The fact that they may save lives or help educate people is the real story in my opinion.
I think a series of differing kinds of entertainment products will lead towards the first AR killer app. Sony's AR support for PS4, Apple's ARKit for mobile and Niantic's upcoming Harry Potter game are all signposts of the progress that's being made.
There are some very strong speakers on this panel and I'm looking forward to the event.
